About Me

My photo
On the planet since 1973. Living in sin with M since 1997 and honestly since 2002. Failing at baby-making since 2005. And whining about it here since 2008. Come on in and sit a spell. This train wreck never seems to end.

Surfacing.........

Huge apologies for disappearing. Apparently, actually doing our final cycle has been a bit more overwhelming than just the discussion and planning leading up to it. I had hoped to blog pretty much daily while we were here in CO, but the rollercoaster of emotions that go along with daily injections and follicle scans got the best of me and I retreated to that safe place with my old friends, avoidance and denial. I promise to leave them behind at some point, but not just yet........

A few things I have learned while in CO:
  • CO is not much for ass gasket seat covers
  • CO has some of the largest fireplaces I have ever seen
  • CO traffic is much slower and friendlier than LA, but people still like to ride your ass
  • If I don't "bounce" on the stiff passenger seat of our rental car when we first get in, it does not recognize that I am there to turn the air bag on
  • Bouncing on the seat of our rental car this close to retrieval is no longer an option
  • When I am not able to buy anything small enough to travel with, I can find way too much stuff that I am not sure how I will live without it
  • If I were actually able to buy any of the above said stuff I likely would overanalyze it and walk away with nothing anyway
  • M and I can talk about everything cycle related without really talking about it
  • My first ever massage was heavenly
  • I have some truly amazing online and IRL friends - okay this I already knew, but truly y'all have been unbelievable!!
I haven't been obsessively following all of the numbers this go round. The follicle numbers were captured by M's iphone camera where I looked at them once and then just let them go. I did still want to capture the cycle and share how things have gone down for anyone who might be interested. My med dosages never changed - 20 units Lupron and 2 amps Menopur in AM, 20 units Lupron, 300IU gonal-f, dexamethasone in PM. So here it is in all it's glory:

Trigger was @ 1AM Thursday with ER scheduled for Friday at noon. Somehow getting up at 1AM to have a 1 1/4" needle shove in my ass was not exactly my idea of restful sleep. At any rate it is done and we are on our way to getting our eggs into Schoolcraft's lab.
I likely will not update until Saturday as my track record for anesthesia (Damn, I still always have to spellcheck that one) has been to sleep for the rest of the day and into the night. 1 lap, 1 colonoscopy, 2 IVFs and always the same........

Thank you so much for surfacing ... I'm sorry it's been hard for you - how else would I expect it to be for you?

Your numbers look great! E2 looks amazing, lining is AWESOME, and your follie counts and sizes are sweet!

I'm so excited that tomorrow is your ER - I will be thinking of you and praying for you.

I look forward to your update when you're ready to give it ... but know that I'm thinking of you.

I hope anesthesia doesn't kick your butt too hard.

Good luck!!!!!

What a great post. Numbers are looking excellent, and I understand you not wanting to read too much into things, and just take a step back. I got a chance to hang out with Devon yesterday, and she told me you were in Colorado, so I wouldn't wonder why you weren't posting!

I am praying for you and thinking all the positive thoughts I can for you for the retrieval and transfer.

Enjoy your massages, and YES- no bouncing on the rental car seats!

Love,
Erika

Its funny, I would look to the side of my blog and not see an update on you and think "wait, isn't she in the middle of cycling and already actually at CO?". (Not making you feel guilty, I'm just amazed b/c I think I'm the opposite- I write too much when I am there!). I'm glad you updated us!

Oh, and I hate when ER is that late in the day...how does ANYONE make it to noon without eating anything? (okay, that is one of the reasons, the other is that super-early morning trigger shot...makes me cranky!)

Your follies look great, lining looks great, I can't wait to hear how your ER goes. I hope the anesthesia treats you better this time. Update us when you can...I'll be praying!

Wow - today's the bid day for ER. I'll be thinking of you at 12 and sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Also wanted to say thanks for checking in with me and offering your support in the midst of what you have going on. It's really appreciated.

Kick butt today!

Thinking about you today B! I'm praying for the best possible egg retrieval - and with the CCRM lab, you know that your babies will be in good hands! I'm sorry you've been so overwhelmed, but I'm glad you got a massage - your first one EVER??? Seriously? Girl, you need to take care of yourself like that more often ;)

Good luck with your retrieval!

Sorry about that 1am shot. That's not the kind of shot you want at that time of night.

Oh my gosh, is it really ER time already?! I'll be sending TONS of vibes your way at noon today...everything is looking really good! Colorado does have some big honking fireplaces, doesn't it? There was an ENORMOUS one in the mall near where my sister lived--I always loved that, a fireplace in a mall!

Best of luck on the ER today! My shot was at 1AM as well...pretty less-than-great time for it - but then again, when is a GOOD time for an IM shot?

And I can completely relate to your comment about talking about the cycle without really talking about...

Glad to hear from you and I totally understand the need to avoid blogging every step of the way. I'm right there with you.

Your numbers are looking good, BTW! Sending lots of well wishes for an excellent retrieval.

Oh my gosh! Look at those E2 levels! I'm very excited for you!

I always have to look up anesthesia too.

Best of luck!

To say something as simple as "you are in my thoughts and prayers" irritates me because it pales to my feelings, the written word feels like a betrayal of what I am trying to say...

SO, be strong my friend, know that you are loved and cherished.

So glad to read this update! You've been very much on my mind during this cycle. and I've so much appreciated your encouraging words on my blog.
I'm probably typing this at about the same time your retrieval -so, so, so much hope that it goes well. I'll continue to pray for you!!

I agree - your numbers are looking so great!!! I'm happy and excited for you, and I can't wait to hear how it all went.

I hope the anesthesia isn't as bad as it's been in the past!

I'm so late writing this, but you've been in my thoughts and prayers and I hope this so super smooth for you. I hope they give you top shelf anesthesia drugs and you don't have an icky hangover (of course they're all the same - I'm just kidding). I am staying so positive for you and I so want this to work sweetie! ((hugs))

Sending you tons of good luck and baby dust. A friend sent me your blog site as we are just starting the infertility road. Your detail in what a babyquest is really like should be mandatory reading for anyone who thinks the process is a piece of cake. Good luck and wishing for 2 pink lines for you.

Good gravy, last time I was reading your blog you were just talking about all your meds and then today I read that you're almost done with the process! You're fast! All your stats look wonderful! Did you take Saizen? I'm off to read your next post, hoping to hear great news! Hugs!
